The Beach Authority, a body corporate operating under the aegis of the Ministry of Environment, Solid Waste Management and Climate Change has been established following the enactment of the Beach Authority Act, 2002. It came into operation as from June 2002.
The objectives of the Authority are to ensure an integrated approach in the proper control and management of public beaches in both Mauritius & Rodrigues and to make provisions for appropriate infrastructures and amenities for the benefit of the public.
Our mission is to make it possible for the general public, including tourists, to fully enjoy all amenities and facilities made available to them on all public beaches.

3. Plage publique de Telfair
Quatre arbres abattus pour garantir un environnement sûr aux usagers, rassure la Beach Authority 
 
L'abattage de quatre arbres à la plage publique de Telfair à Souillac, ne laisse pas indifférents les Mauriciens. Et, avec raison.
Toutefois, l'insensibilité et la non-réaction qui prévalaient sous l'ancien gouvernement face à ce genre de doléances citoyennes, sont révolues. 
La Beach Authority (BA) qui a la responsabilité des plages publiques de la République, tient à rassurer le public, dans ce cas-ci. Elle explique que cette décision a été prise car ces arbres, un filao situé à l'entrée de la plage et trois badamiers à proximité des toilettes, ont été classés « dangereux » par les services Bois et forêts,
Le filao penché, pouvait à tout moment céder, comme on a pu hélas le voir sur d'autres plages, tandis que les trois badamiers avaient provoqué des fissures sur certaines structures en béton à proximité des toilettes. Ce qui constituait un risque réel pour les usagers de la plage et les infrastructures publiques environnantes.
Ce constat découle d'une visite sur place par les services Bois et forêts, à la demande de la BA. 
Après le confirmation de la dangerosité des arbres, une autorisation d'abattage formelle a été émise. 
Les travaux ont été réalisés sous la supervision d'un représentant de Forestry Services, afin de garantir le respect des procédures de sécurité.
La BA souligne que cette décision a été prise uniquement dans l'intérêt de la sécurité du public, afin d'éviter tout risque de chute d'arbres ou de dommages supplémentaires aux infrastructures.
Elle tient aussi à faire ressortir que l'autorisation d'abattage délivrée par les Services forestiers est assujettie d'une condition, à savoir celle de replanter trois fois le nombre d'arbres abattus. 
La BA assure que le nécessaire sera fait afin de préserver le cachet naturel de la plage.

5. The Public is kindly informed that a tree cutting exercise is currently being carried at Palmar (Nr Ambre Hotel) public beach. Following receipt of appropriate clearances from the Forestry Services of the Ministry of Agro-Industry, Food Security, Blue Economy and Fisheries.

6.The Public is kindly informed that the toilet block situated at Flic en Flac public beach near Ex Mer de Chine Restaurant will be temporarily closed to the public from 16 October 2025 till 31 October 2025 for repairs and maintenance of the toilet block. The public is hereby advised to use the toilet block situated near the Flic en Flac  Sub Office. Apology for any inconvenience caused.

7. The public is hereby informed that construction works for a new toilet block and other related amenities will commence on Monday, 11 August 2025, at La Cambuse public beach.

The duration of the construction is expected to be Six (6) months.

During this period, the construction site will be cordoned off, and the public is strongly advised to exercise caution and refrain from entering the work site for their own safety.

The Beach Authority relies on the understanding and cooperation of the public.
